An Overview
There are a number of ways you can help support New Muslim Dhikr and its activities. Some are listed below, and if you have any other ideas or ways you’d like to help, please get in touch.
Help to promote the website
The more visitors and members we have, the better content will be. If you think this website would be useful for someone you know, please share it with them. You can:
- Use the ‘Share This’ application on the main page
- Distribute New Muslim Dhikr business cards (see here)
- Put up New Muslim Dhikr posters in Mosques, student prayer rooms, study areas etc (coming soon)
Support Our Activities
New Muslim Dhikr operates on a small budget, comprised mainly of donations. With this budget we pay for webspace, give free ‘New Muslim Survival Kits’ to recent converts and pay for advertising. In the future, inshallah, we intend to expand these activities to include lectures and courses for new Muslims. If you would like to contribute towards the cost of these activities, there are a number of ways in which you can help.
- Buy a book or DVD through our Recommended reading links page. These are books that are recognised as trustworthy and valuable, and have been read by a number of our community. If you follow the links and buy a book from Amazon, New Muslim Dhikr receives 5% of the sale price. It soon adds up!
- Pay for a New Muslim Dhikr Survival Kit. This kit is provided free of charge for new Muslims who join our community here. It contains essential items such as Qur’an, prayer mat, tasbih, books on ‘How to Pray’ and the fundamentals of Islam, compass, hat or hijab according to gender, and other items. It is posted to recent converts upon request, with no strings attached. (coming soon)
- Buy a New Muslim Dhikr e-mail address. If you would like a personalised e-mail address that ends in @newmuslimdhikr.co.uk, then you can rent one for £5 per year. Yes, we know you can get them for free elsewhere, but a number of people have expressed interest in the idea of having a personalised address for a small charge. Besides, you will find that all simple names have been taken on the major mail websites, for example Ahmad@yahoo.com will have been registered years ago, and you will have to have AhmadLondon1983@yahoo.com or something equally unattractive. For a small annual donation (which goes to a very good cause!) you can have Ahmad@newmuslimdhikr.co.uk, or whatever you choose. Click here for more details.
- Simply make a donation. If you want to support our activities, you can make a secure donation online via Paypal. If You can specify how we use your donation, or simply allocate it to general funds.
Join In
Above all, we need human input. This website was created to serve the needs of the new Muslim community, so your views on what it should be will shape its future. We also want to hear about your experiences; if you want to write about your experiences of Islam we will find a place for them – they make fascinating reading for those new to Islam, whether they have taken the decision to convert or not, as well as existing Muslims. Similarly, if you would like to contribute features, articles or guides for new Muslims then we welcome your ideas. Post a message on the forums.
